How can I help TVAC?

Regular Members: Corps members are teachers, housewives, professionals, executives, retirees, students, and other neighbors who want to help their community. Ambulance crews are made up of three or four members, consisting of an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) crew chief as well as other experienced EMT’s and Advanced First-Aiders. New members are placed on crews designed to provide training and support to newcomers.

Driver-Only Members: TVAC also has openings for members who do not wish to participate in direct patient care but have good driving records and are willing to drive the ambulances. We will train you in emergency driving and patient transport.

Junior Members: Young adults (ages 14 to 17) are welcome to participate in our Junior Corps. This program provides CPR and First Aid training and satisfies the criteria for many of the high schools’ volunteer requirements.

• How much time do I need to give?

Members can specify the time of day they are willing to provide coverage - days or nights, during the week or on the weekend. You will also have the opportunity to assist at parades, blood pressure screenings, school athletic events, crafts shows, graduations and other gatherings.

• I don’t know how to provide first aid.

All members receive free Basic Red Cross training - Standard First Aid, Basic Life Support, and Adult, Child, and Infant CPR - training you will find useful in the workplace as well as in your home. As you gain experience and confidence, you can add training

in more advanced life saving techniques.

•The Rewards of Joining

As a TVAC member, you will gain confidence in your ability to handle emergencies, build new friendships and feel good that you are helping others in need.
